Human rights protect the essential elements and areas humans need for survival and for a life as a human being. Although human rights are universal, only a minority of humans enjoy the realization of their rights. In front of this reality different actors of the society need to engage more for the respect and the implementation of human rights. The UN Declaration on Human Rights Education and Training of 2011, Art. 6/2 affirms the role arts are playing for human rights: “The arts should be encouraged as means of training and raising awareness in the field of human rights.”

The Freedom Flowers-Foundation aims to enhance the realization of human rights by strengthening the contribution of arts to the realization of human rights. The Freedom Flowers-Foundation will recognize the human rights-work by artists, support them in their efforts, and motivate future artists to enter the field of human rights.
